Junior Coaching Certification

• MYL is now offering coaching credentials to high school age volunteers under the age of 18 who want/need to be a MYL Certified Coach. High school volunteers do not need a badge to support classic teams, but they do need to be a Certified Coach to be on teh sidelines for Select Games.  Completing this certification will allow badged high school junior coaches to be present on the sideline for games.

  • If the volunteer is 18 years old or older, they must complete online compliance and Coach Certification Clinics like every adult volunteer.

• Badged “Junior coaches” will not “count” in the maximum number of coaches permitted on the sideline.

• Requirements

  • Letter/email of recommendation from the MYL Town program leader endorsing the student for certification.  The student will PDF and upload this letter/email as part of their registration

  • Completion of Positive Coaching Alliance “Double Goal Coach” program – LINK – cost $30   Online Courses - Positive Coaching Alliance  

• Steps for registration:

  •  Student’s parent sign in (or register for an MYL account)  DEMOSPHERE and access or add their student as a family member  

  • Complete registration  

    • Upload PDF  

      • Letter/email recommending student

      • certificate of completion from PCA

  • An email will be sent to parent, student & program director confirming completion of junior coaching requirement

  • MYL 2025 Badge will be mailed to the student

Please note:  

• Junior coaches can serve as HEAD coach, but...

• Junior coaches must work under the supervision of adult/certified coach

• Junior coaches can not be alone with players!  An adult/certified coach must be present at  all practices and games.
